The Grant Process

The Society, through local service organizations, provides assistance to Germantown residents. Any organization applying for funds must be a registered non-profit with 501(c)3 status.

Applications for grants must be electronically submitted no later than October 1 of the current year.   Grants are awarded in the next calendar year.  Grant recipients must submit an annual report by October 1 of the award year.  If your agency has a current GRS grant and intends to apply for a new grant, submit only the required application materials which include annual reporting.  Do not submit a separate report.

Agencies who do not submit a detailed annual report on grant expenditures will not be considered for future funding.

GRS income is dispensed through grants to existing intermediate organizations (Dispensing Agents) who regularly service people in need. Such intermediaries might include, but are not limited to, local church programs, non-profit social service organizations, schools, and the social service departments of hospitals.

Over the past five years, grants ranged from $1,500 to $10,000 and vary each year depending on the state of the economy and the number of qualified applications received. The Society does not make direct grants to individuals.
